What do you do when Whole Foods Santa Cruz has strawberries on sale for $5 for 2 lbs.? Buy a bunch and make a smoothie of course. (The Capitola location also has the great deal on berries)
Fresh berries and summer fruit is one of my favorite parts of the summer season. Growing up in the Central Valley of CA there was no shortage of fresh produce and plant foods. I remember tagging along with my mom and dad to the Farmer’s Market on Sundays and sampling juicy peaches, sweet cherries, and fresh berries. I know that I’m pretty lucky to live in an area with access to such a variety of high quality fruits and veggies and I take full advantage of it in the summer.
I used the vanilla protein from Ka’Chava Tribe to get a healthy dose of nutrients and protein in as well.
I made a chocolate sauce to drizzle in the smoothie for an extra special treat.
Chocolate Covered Strawberry Smoothie
1 1/2 cups fresh strawberries (tops removed)
1 cup unsweetened coconut milk
1 scoop Vanilla Ka’Chava Tribe Protein
1/2 tbs cacao powder unsweetened
3 tbs water
2 drops liquid stevia
- Blend the chocolate sauce ingredients until smooth
Pour smoothie into a glass and drizzle the chocolate sauce over the top and enjoy!
