March Foodie Pen Pals

Posted on Updated on

Every month Lindsay over at The Lean Green Bean Blog hosts Foodie Pen Pals, an exchange that pairs you up with another US participant. You exchange e-mails with your pen pal finding out if they have any allergies and their likes and dislikes, then by the 15th of the month you send them a box of goodies and they send you one!

It’s a fun way to discover new local foods from a different part of the US and to share some of your favorites with them!

This month I was paired up with Clara Houin who sent me some goodies from Tennessee.

She sent me a variety of teas: Tea forte kiwi lime ginger and tangerine rosemary, and Harney and Sons Pomegranate Oolong tea.

Eden Organic spicy pumpkin seeds, a local Grab the Gold Vegan chocolate Peanut butter bar, Bobo’s Oat bar Maple Pecan, and Go Raw Banana Bread flax bar, and Santosha cayenne maca raw chocolate! Plus a local magazine to read!

I loved the tea! ImageEspecially with the chilly, rainy weather we’ve been having lately!

ImageImageI loved the chocolate! I’m usually not a spicy chocolate fan, but this was very mildly spicy and had a nice flavor. I love raw cacao chocolate so thoroughly enjoyed it!

ImageImageI loved the Grab the Gold Bar! Tasted kind of like an oatmeal pb cookie and was a very nice night snack! Their vegan, gluten free, high in fiber, and relatively low in sugar compared to other bars.

ImageThe spicy pumpkin seeds made for a nice snack when I was studying for midterms. I love spicy foods and love pumpkin seeds so this was perfect!

I haven’t got around to trying everything yet, but I’m looking forward to it! I had fun flipping through the native magazine too and getting a little peek into Tennessee life.

If your interested in participating in Foodie Pen Pals for the month of April head on over to her blog: http://www.theleangreenbean.com

and sign up under the tab that says Foodie Pen Pals. Make sure you sign up by the 4th of the month to be included! There is also a section for Canadian residents if you live in Canada. You will receive an e-mail on the 5th with the matches!
